There is more to her achievement. She recently exhibited exemplary courage by climbing 3,500 steps 99 times in 40 days. She accomplished this feat during a festival celebrated by the Jain community.

Living with cerebral palsy can be an uphill task. The neurological condition restricts body movement as one cannot hold a pen or write straight because of the trembling hands. Dhrasti Dhruv, however, chose to stay unfazed by the impediments and cleared her Class X examinations with flying colours.

“I am happy with my marks, it was more than I expected. The board allowed me to take help from a writer during the exams. I feel good to have challenged myself”, she says. A student of Swami Vivekananda International School, Kandivli Dhrasti secured 98 out of 100 is general math and bagged 90 in social sciences.

“She was confident that her hard work will pay off and she will score above 80%", said Dhruv's father beaming with joy. He also mentioned that she would stay awake till late and revise her lessons that she recorded on her mobile phone.

Unlike many students who prefer going on a sabbatical after writing their exams, she chose to spend her summer holidays taking part in the special camps called Nuvanu yatras (99 journeys) for children organised by the Jain community.

The camp requires participants to wake up at 5 am and embark on a yatra.  They take just one meal in the afternoon and are supposed to drink only boiled water between sunrise and sunset.

That's where she climbed the 3,500 steps of the Shatrunjaya Hills 99 times in 40 days. It is the same place where Jains’ holiest temples are situated.

Dhruv is yet to make up her mind about the stream she will be taking up but her father feels that her inclination towards computers might compel her to opt for Science.

We salute her for her assiduous efforts. More power to you!
