A video clip of a woman constable rushing to save a 40-year-old woman in Mumbai, who fell off a moving local train while boarding it, has gone viral. The 52-second-long clip shared by Central Railway features a woman constable, Sapna Golkar who is keeping a watch while passengers hurriedly get on the local train.
In a matter of seconds, a 40-year-old woman is seen falling from the entrance to one of the compartments of the local train at platform number one of Byculla Railway Station. The woman slips and tries to hold on while the train catches speed. The on-duty woman constable Sapna Golkar rushes to save the woman.
In a successful attempt, she manages to hold on to the woman while people gather and help her. Then checks on if the woman is hurt. The woman then sits on a bench. The CCTV footage from the railway station's platform has gone viral and netizens are applauding the cop's presence of mind and immediate reaction to the situation. Even the Central railway commended Golkar for saving the woman's life.
Many people on social media pointed to the need for close door coaches in the local trains to ensure safety. Although this is not Golkar's first time-saving life of a commuter.
"A 40-year-old woman, while trying to board a moving train, fell out of balance while trying to board a moving local train at Mumbai's Byculla railway station. You are requested not to attempt to board a moving train or try to get down, it can be fatal," tweeted the Ministry of Railways.
