A 16-year-old Dalit girl died by suicide on July 26 after being subjected to harassment by some boys of her village in Tikamgarh district, Madhya Pradesh.
The police said on July 27 that the minor died by suicide after some boys harassed her, according to a report by NDTV. The incident occurred in Tanga village which is 45 km from the district headquarters on Monday evening.

Jatara police station in-charge Trivendra Trivedi said that the deceased consumed some toxic substance at her home. Following the same, she was admitted to the district hospital when her condition deteriorated.
Later, she was taken to Jhansi Medical College. However, she succumbed to the damages done by the poisonous substance while her treatment was under process on Tuesday afternoon.
The minor's brother stated that two to three boys were allegedly harassing his sister. He added that the accused used to pass lewd comments about her whenever she stepped out of her house.
The police officer added that although the girl had informed her family about the harassment, the family did not notify the police about it.
A case has been registered against the harassers and the police have launched an investigation to track down the involved boys.
