In a shocking case of rage, an elderly mother set her 40-year-old son on fire in North West area of Bengaluru. Sofia B. (60 years) allegedly killed her son Chand Pasha. The mother-son duo was residing in Janata Colony in Chikkabanavara.
What Exactly Happened?
Reportedly, on Monday, Pasha again arrived home in a drunken haze at about four in the evening and sat at the door. Infuriated by his regular drinking, Sofiya doused him with kerosene oil. Then she struck a match, igniting him on fire. Pasha passed away shortly after. His remains have been sent to Victoria Hospital for an autopsy.
Further Investigation Underway
16 years ago, after Pasha separated from his wife, the deceased had been sharing the space with his mother. Bengaluru Police suspects that Pasha's mother Sofia annoyed at her son's lack of responsibility and bad attitude just wanted to teach him a lesson and therefore what happened was probably unintentional.
Another Incident In Bengaluru, Teen Set On Fire
Earlier on July 15, 18-year-old Shashanka R was set on fire by his family. He was brought to the hospital with 80% burn wounds. He was allegedly set on fire by a gang led by his uncle Manu, who opposed his relationship with a girl who was related to him by family.
In his statement to the Police, Shashanka said that he was on his way to his college when a group of people abducted him from Doddabele Road near RR Medical College. The group dragged him into a Toyota Innova and sped away. The gang then threw him on the ground, doused him in gasoline, and set him ablaze. The survivor, in his statement to the authorities, further said, "I rolled on the ground and then contacted my friends, who rushed me to the hospital."
Based on the survivor's statement, Kumbalgodu police filed a case under Section 307 of the IPC (attempt to kill) against Manu and six other people on accusations of kidnapping, assault, and attempted murder. According to the police, the girl's trip to the city to meet Shashanka last week allegedly served as the catalyst for the attack.
