A 45-year-old woman and her two daughters were run over by the Vande Bharat Express killing the three on the spot on Sunday in UP as the family tried to cross a man-levelled railway crossing despite the gates being shut. The woman's husband survived with minor injuries.
The incident took place when the family was crossing the railway tracks despite the closed gates at the Kasampur manned level crossing, Press Trust of India reported.

Superintendent of Police (city) Piyush Kumar Singh identified victims and Naresh (47) was pulling a 'rehra' (a hand cart pulled by a human) while his wife Mona (45) and his daughters Manisha (14) and Charu (7) were sitting behind the cart as he was pulling them.
On the levelled railway crossing of the Kasampur district, the man slid under the closed railway gate and was moving the cart on the tracks despite the gate being shut. As he was moving from the tracks, the semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express hit the rear of the cart.
The man on sensing the train jumped off the track sustaining some minor injuries, while the mother and her daughters were killed as the three were run over by the train.
The police also alleged that the man was intoxicated at the time of the incident and the family was from Kankhera village. Kumar said that the investigation is underway.
An eyewitness told Times Of India, that it happened in fractions of seconds and they were shocked looking at the bodies as it was the first time they had seen such a horrifying accident.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination.
