Act Of Revenge: Man Makes Fake Accounts, Posts Morphed Pictures Of Minor Girl

Fake Instagram Profile and the horrors of it: A man has been arrested in Faridabad for allegedly creating fake profiles of a minor girl and sending her obscene messages.

The 25-year-old has been posting her fabricated nude photographs on social media, the police said on Friday.

Reportedly, the accused targeted the student of class 8 to seek revenge from the girl after being rebuked by her for allegedly harassing her friend. The man identified as Bharat Khatar met the former’s friend on social media, in a similar manner.

The police said that the accused here did his graduation from Delhi University through a correspondence course. Also, he had been working with an event management company for the last two years.

So far, he has targeted six girls and one of the victims lodged a complaint against him after her mother alleged that her daughter's fake Instagram profile was created by the man. Later an investigation was initiated following the complaint lodged against him in Faridabad.

According to reports, a case was registered under these relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code:  "stalking", "word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman", "sexual harassment and punishment for sexual harassment". The charges were also filed under sections of the POSCO Act. 

Atul Kumar Thakur, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) mentioned as part of the investigation, letters were sent to Facebook, seeking details about the fake Instagram account.

As per reports, the investigating team analysed the IP addresses and zeroed in on the suspect. After due verification, the accused was caught from his residence in Faridabad on April 1.

The accused sent the victim’s friend here obscene messages, following which she had arguments with him on WhatsApp calls. Following which she then narrated the entire incident to her friend who warned the accused, the officer said.

After the incident, the Faridabad man created three fake accounts in her name on Instagram and posted her morphed nude photographs on those accounts to take revenge. He said that the accused also asked for sexual favours in return for deleting her pictures. 

Deputy Commissioner of Police said that the accused confessed to having a heated argument with the friend on Instagram. 

“To take revenge from the girl, he created her fake profiles on Instagram. Thereafter, he sent her abusive contents, nude pictures, threatened and abused her," he added.
