Moderna To Begin COVID-19 Vaccine Trials On Children

Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine For Children: As the United States Of America is being consistent with the number of people vaccinated, Moderna manufacturers have announced that they are now going to begin COVID-19 trials on children.

The trial will be conducted on children older than six months and younger than 12 years of age. Moderna on Tuesday said that they will include about 6,750 children as participants in the trials. Stephane Bance, CEO of Moderna said, "We are pleased to begin this Phase 2/3 study of mRNA-1273 in healthy children in the US and Canada."

She added that the study will help the vaccine manufacturers to know the safety potential and immunogenicity of the candidates of COVID-19 in the age group of six months to 12 years. She said, " This pediatric study will help us assess the potential safety and immunogenicity of our Covid-19 vaccine candidate in this important younger age population."

According to health officials in the US, fewer children have been affected by the virus. While many few of them got sick of coronavirus, they became carriers and spreaders after contracting it. As per reports children in the said age group have shown mild symptoms or no symptoms at all. Children across the globe and the US have been staying at home and are being homeschooled, the pressure to reopen the schools are reportedly growing on school officials. Even the schools which have reopened are facing a shortage of space and logistics to carry out social distancing among children.

As per reports, Moderna has facilitated COVID-19 vaccines to 17.8 million adults in America. The country plans to ramp up the process of vaccination as there have already been more than 535,000 deaths. Moderna along with Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson is going to deliver vaccines that will cover the entire adult population of the USA. The country is going steady with the rollout as it is vaccinating about 2.2 million people each day. Reportedly, close to 65 per cent American population above 65 years of age have at least had their first shot.
