At the recent Indian Runway Week 2017 when the audience was expecting to see Bollywood stars (it rained glamour BTW) on the ramp, a 23-year-old model in a wheelchair grabbed everyone’s attention and stole the show with her sheer confidence, grace and strength.
Alexandra Kutas is arguably the world's first wheelchair-bound model. She was the show-stopper for designer-duo Nikheil and Rivendra at the India Runway Week. While the Ukrainian model was excited about her debut on an Indian ramp, the audience loved her for making a powerful statement.

Despite having suffered a spinal-cord injury at birth, which caused paralysis from waist down, Alexandra has defied all odds to achieve the feat. She is breaking barriers and shattering taboos in the fashion industry.

"Ever since I began modelling in Ukraine, people's perception towards diversity has changed. Brands like me after seeing my photos but the moment they see me on a wheelchair, they back out. I'm trying to break those barriers. With my passion and professional ethics, I'm as good as any other model even if I'm wheelchair-bound," Kutas told Deccan Chronicle
Me dijeron que era muy guapa pero que no sabían cómo podrían representarme porque el mercado todavía no era maduro para eso

Alexandra was discovered by a photographer five years ago. “When I started in Ukraine, no one thought that the girl in the wheelchair could be a model. But now, I am doing this not only at home, but all over the world. Unfortunately still, the market is not diverse. But I know for a fact that no matter what happens to my career, there’s going to be a day when it’s going to be totally normal for a disabled person to be a model. Fashion is not just about fancy clothes, It reflects the society we live in. So we will evolve,” she explained, Hindustan Times reported.

Donning a dazzling look in a blue gown, Alexandra is definitely changing the fashion world's definition big time.
Among well-known faces, singer Ankit Tiwari walked the ramp for designer-duo Apash and Shruti on Day 2 of the event. Singer-actress Shibani Dandekar also walked the ramp for Niti Singhal's Twee-In-One.
