Model Dies After Light Pillar Collapses On Fashion Ramp In Noida
A 24-year-old model was killed and a young guy was severely injured when a lighting truss (iron pillar) fell on them as they were walking down the fashion runway in Noida The incident occurred in a studio located in Noida’s Film City area, the police said on Sunday.

The deceased identified as Vanshika Chopra died on the spot, while her co-model identified as Bobby Raj received severe injuries. Raj was shifted to the hospital for medical treatment.

“The fashion show was underway and the woman was standing next to the stage, when the lighting truss fell on her head, due to which she died,” said a police officer.

The show's organiser and four others have been arrested, according to the officials.

Model dies as light pillar falls

According to Noida Additional Deputy Commissioner Police (ADCP) Shakti Awasthi, Vanshika Chopra was killed by falling off a truss during a fashion presentation in a Film City studio.

Awasthi said that the family members of the 24-year-old model were informed about the incident and legal proceedings have been launched.

“Vanshika’s death has been informed to her family members. The body has been sent for postmortem. In this regard, the police have arrested the fashion show organiser and 4 people involved in the lighting work,” Additional DCP, Noida was quoted as saying by NDTV.

According to reports, there was no official permission given to the organisers for organising the fashion show.

He further added that four suspects have been detained for questioning. “Further legal action will be taken after the enquiry,” he said.

A police officer said that the woman’s brother filed a complaint, based on which they have lodged an FIR under IPC section 304A (causing death by negligence) against unknown persons.

Police said there were around 150 people in the studio when the show was being organised. “It was a normal fashion show and aspiring models were invited to take part. There was no CCTV in the room, so we are trying to get videos from those who were present at the programme,” said an officer.
