The police told Press Trust of India (PTI) that the phone exploded in the little girl's face at around 10:30 pm on April 24.
The parents took her to the hospital but the doctors could not save the child's life. The initial probe suggested that the explosion might have occurred due to overheating.
As per a report, the second-hand phone was bought three years prior to the tragic incident and the battery had been replaced three months prior.
According to the senior police officer, an accidental death case was registered and minor explosions of mobile phone batteries had been reported previously.
