Mithali Raj has proved her mettle once again as the Captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team is now the highest runner in women's ODI cricket, surpassing former England batter Charlotte Edwards' record.

Today on July 12, at the Bristol County Ground, England, Raj played brilliantly, finally making the record, of the most runs in women's ODI cricket.

Edwards had a record of 5992 runs in her ODI career while Raj has last scored 5,959 runs in 182 ODIs played till now. She was just 34 runs short of becoming the first woman cricketer to amass 6,000 ODI runs.

The India skipper Mithali Raj was chasing a personal milestone while playing against  six-time champions Australia in a high spirited match in World Cup. India Women's Cricket Team clashed with Australia in the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup 2017 after losing their last game to South Africa. Before the fifth match with South Africa, team India took 4th consecutive win.

Looks like Raj has bounced back and today’s match would be a crucial win against defending champions Australia as India would be a step closer towards securing a semifinal spot.
