Lateche Norris, a 20-year-old TikToker in the United States, has been missing since November 5, her mother said appealing on social media for an investigation into the case. Norris had reportedly flown to San Diego to meet her boyfriend and prior to disappearing, had called her mother "frantically," asking her to help locate the man. Police probing the case have said the missing woman is now being considered "at risk."
"My daughter is just as important as Gabby Petito... As if what happened to that sweet girl wasn’t heartbreaking enough," Norris' mother Cheryl wrote in a Facebook post. Her reference is to the Gabby Petito case that grabbed headlines globally this year for the disappearance and death of a young vlogger; all about that case here.
The young couple was reportedly aspiring to be tattoo artists and has previously been reported to have engaged in domestic violence.
Lateche Norris Disappearance Case: What You Should Know
As per CBS8, Norris and her boyfriend Joey Smith were in a "volatile relationship" and neighbours in California, where the couple was living together earlier this year, often raised complaints against them. The two were even once arrested in September on charges of misdemeanour.
After release, Smith was reportedly seeking drug rehabilitation in San Diego to where Norris took a flight. However, Smith did not stay long at the rehab. Reports suggest Norris and Smith met up in San Diego and fought again. Cheryl said her daughter called her early morning on November 5 from a stranger's phone and that she was trying to find Smith. She claims Norris promised she would call her again but never did.
San Diego police have termed Norris at-risk on the basis of "the length of time Norris has been missing and the absence of anyone reporting verifiable contact with her," as quoted in reports.
The influencer is reported to have been last seen on November 4 at a convenience store in the East Village.
