Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu mother Ruby Sandhu is on cloud nine. In an interview with ET Times, she said that she is super excited and cannot express her feelings. "I'm getting goosebumps after her massive win. You can say yeh sab ek maa ki feelings hai,” Ruby Sandhu shared.
Ruby Sandhu reportedly didn't watch the ceremony as she was praying in the Gurudwara at that time. She had told God that she would go home only if her daughters wins. She revealed that she got very emotional when she reached Top 3.
"When Harnaaz won, I was literally crying like a baby and my tears welled up in my mask. I am thankful to God for this win. I don’t know how to express my happiness. At the Gurudwara people were looking at me as I was constantly saying 'Thank you babaji", she said.
She took to her social media handle on Monday much later after she was announced as the Miss Universe 2021 and expressed gratitude towards everyone who helped in her journey in separate posts. In a post, she wrote a lengthy message about how her win is dedicated to her motherland India and wrote, "India, this one is for you." As per reports, Sandhu will be moving to New York to carry out her work as a spokesperson of several causes including the Miss Universe pageant's. She will advocate for menstrual equality.

She plans to hug her tightly on her daughter's return. She says she will finally get a chance to speak to her at length. This is something she couldn't do for the last three-four months. She will also feed her makki-di-roti.
“The biggest pressure the youth today is facing, is to believe in themselves, to know that you are unique makes you beautiful. Stop comparing yourselves with others and let’s talk about more important things that are happening worldwide Come out, speak for yourself, because you are the leader of your life. You are the voice of your own. I believe in myself and that is why I am standing here today.”, she said when the finalists were asked about one advice they would give to young women facing various pressures.
Sandhu's win was celebrated by people from all quarters. The former Miss Universe title winners from India, Lara Dutta, Sushmita Sen and Priyanka Chopra took to their social media handles and congratulated Sandhu. Sen wrote, "Thank for representing India so beautifully!! May you reign supreme." Chopra posted her picture on her Instagram stories and praised for bringing back the crown to India after more than two decades. Read more
