Thomas Swiss, the husband of Kristina Joksimovic, a 2008 Miss Switzerland finalist, allegedly killed her and dissolved her body parts, reports said. The remains of the 38-year-old model were found on February 13 in the laundry room of her house in Binningen. The autopsy confirmed that Joksimovic was strangled to death. The 41-year-old accused was arrested and later confessed to the crime. The federal court in Lausanne rejected his appeal for release on September 11.
Kristina Joksimovic Case: Triggering Details
During the trial, Thomas corroborated the autpsy report that stated he strangled Joksimovic to death in February 2024. The report also noted that her body was dismembered using a jigsaw, knife, and garden shears. According to officials, he then 'pureed' her remains in a blender and dissolved them in a chemical solution.
Local media outlet Basel reported that Thomas claimed he killed Joksimovic in self-defence when she was attacking him with a knife. He claimed he tried to dismember her remains out of panic. However, forensic reports contradict this; officials said they have found him to have "concrete" indications of mental illness.
Investigators said that Thomas has "sadistic tendencies," and a "remarkably high level of criminal energy, lack of empathy, and cold-bloodedness." Prosecutors said that he had even previously abused his wife. A former partner claimed that he had also once grabbed Joksimovic by the neck and slammed her head into a wall.
