The miracle baby who was rescued after 128 hours under the rubble in Turkey after the massive earthquake has been reunited with his mother. Initially, it was reported that the baby’s mother had passed away, but fortunately, it turned out that she is alive and well as reported by Ukraine Minister Anton Gerashchenko on Monday.
The mother was being treated at a different hospital and was reported to be dead. After 54 days, the baby was reunited with the mother after a DNA test.
Miracle Baby Reunited with Mother
The three-and-a-half-month-old baby called Vetin was pulled out of the rubble of a building that had collapsed on a family. The baby was found in the province of Hatay more than five days after birth. Fortunately, the doctors declared the baby healthy and safe.
The baby was handed over to the mother, Yasemin Begdas, who was in a city hospital. "One of the most precious tasks in the world is reuniting a mother and her child," said the Minister of Family and Social Services, Derya Yanik.
The baby was initially being cared for at a hospital in Adana. Then the authorities had taken the baby to a presidential residence to be cared for by Ankara authorities.
However, when a DNA report revealed that the baby’s mother, Yasemin Begdas, is still alive, the baby was flown back to Adana and reunited with the mother.
Baby Adopted By Paternal Uncle
On the same day, another baby was born, whose parents and four siblings had died. The rescue team found the baby 10 hours after its birth. The baby was still connected to the mother by an umbilical cord. Unfortunately, her mother had died.
The baby girl was named Aya, which means "a sign of God" in Arabic, by the hospital that she was taken to after being rescued.
Two weeks later, the baby was adopted by her paternal uncle Khalil al Sawadi and his wife. They renamed the baby "Afraa" after her late mother.
