Mirabai Chanu Biopic : Olympic silver medallist weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu's biopic has been announced. This came after her Silver medal victory in Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Chanu’s management and Imphal-based Seuti Films Production have signed an agreement for the same. To ensure the medalist's inspiring life-story reaches a wider audience, the film will be dubbed into English and various Indian languages.

The 26 year old sportsperson from Imphal became the first Indian weightlifter to win a silver at the Olympics by lifting a total of 202 kg. In an interview with TOI, she said that she is looking forward to clinching a gold medal in Paris 2024. She will look after her diet and training regime properly for the same.
A lot of movies in the past have been inspired by sportspersons' lives. For instance, boxer Mary Kom's biopic was directed by Omung Kumar and her character was brilliantly portrayed by Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra. Besides that, Saina Nehwal's biopic was also released this year. Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra was roped in for the same. Nitesh Tiwari’s film Dangal is also based on the Phogat family of wrestlers in Haryana. The movie depicts how wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat trains his daughters Geeta and Babita Phogat to become wrestlers.
