After a mob of 30 to 40 people allegedly assaulted a Kashmiri woman and her family, the Delhi Minorities Commission (DMC) has issued notices to the police and a resident welfare association (RWA). The DMC has asked the authorities about the assault which happened earlier this month.
The commission’s chairman, Zafarul Islam Khan, confirmed that it has issued notices to the two authorities pertaining to the assault, Kashmir Reader reported.
The incident took place on the night of May 10 in southeast Delhi’s Siddhartha Extension when about 30 to 40 people surrounded four women and thrashed them. After that, one of the women filed a complaint with the police. A case was also filed against the victim’s family members by one of the residents of the locality.

The woman, who lodged a complaint against the residents of the area, said that they targeted her and her family due to her Kashmiri origin.
But the Delhi Police Commissioner informed the Home secretary that the incident was a local issue involving feeding of dogs and did not have anything to do with the woman's origin.
