Minor girl raped in Uttar Pradesh: In an appalling incident, a 16-year-old girl hailing from Shahganj in Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly gangraped by three persons under the pretext of marriage and shelter, on different occasions. According to police, the minor is a school dropout who had left her home in March after her mother scolded her for spending too much time on the phone.
Police said the survivor initially contacted a friend she was connected to via phone, the first accused identified as Saurabh Singh, who allegedly sexually assaulted her in Sikandrabad. He had promised to marry her and allegedly raped her multiple times, according to a report in Hindustan Times. Following this incident, she met an autorickshaw driver after Singh dropped her at Farah in Mathura. The driver then took the girl to another man identified as Narayan Thakur, who allegedly spiked her drink with sedatives and raped her. Thakur is also accused of keeping the girl locked up in a room and allegedly sexually assaulting her for the next few days. According to a police officer from Malwani police station, the accused also promised to marry her.

He then allegedly abandoned the girl on road. Eventually, she met one person named Sachin Pandit who provided her shelter at his apartment. He allegedly subjected the minor to sexual assault in an unknown building in Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh, the officer confirmed, adding that the girl somehow managed to reach Mumbai in July and then lodged in Malwani area in Malad with a friend.
However, recently the survivor had a dispute with her friend and one of them called the police for help. The girl then narrated her ordeal to a female constable, said the officer investigating the case. Mumbai Police have lodged a case against four persons - three of her assailants and the auto driver.
