Minor Girl Harassed Over Love Affair: After alleged harassment by the principal over a "love affair", a 13-year-old girl died by suicide. The incident took place on December 24, Friday in Guwahati, Assam. The accused person, the principal, is still at large and the police have launched a search and a First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against her.
The deceased was a class eight student at a Guwahati school. After being insulted by the principal in front of the boy's parents on Friday. The deceased jumped off from the fifth floor of the school. She was taken to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
According to a report by NDTV, the deceased was allegedly harassed by the principal for having a relationship with another person. The family members and parents of the deceased are protesting and demanding justice for the deceased, while the locals allege that the harassment took place in front of the boy's parents.

The principal has been charged with abetment of suicide and a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused has been lodged. As per the police sources, since the principal is missing, they have launched a search for her.

On December 18, a schoolgirl in Chennai died by suicide over sexual harassment and stalking. The deceased in the suicide note wrote about how she did not receive any help from the school. The mother of the deceased also said that the harassing problems for the girl did not stop even after she changed schools. In the note, the class 11 student wrote, "...The only safe place is a mother's womb and the cemetery," while adding that nobody allegedly consoled her and she was unable to concentrate on studies and had constant nightmares. The note was titled, "Stop Sexual Harassment," and the deceased appealed to the parents to teach their sons how to be respectful towards girls in society.
In the case, according to the investigating officer, a 21-year-old boy confessed to harassing and having a physical relationship with the minor. The police charged the accused under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
