The star who rose to fame with the Disney series of Hannah Montana has been in the news constantly ever since she wrapped up the series. Miley, who played a teenager living a double life in the show, was criticised when she dropped her 'Disney girl image' to become a more mature version of herself.

- Miley was born Destiny Hope Cyrus as her parents believed that she is going to achieve great things when she grows up. She changed her name to Miley in 2008, a shorter version of her nickname, Smiley.
- Miley was born left-handed but Billy Ray, her father, made sure she uses her right hand to write. Miley often jokes about her autographs being hard to read because of this reason.
- Miley's first job was picking up bras and panties that Billy Ray's fans used to throw at him during concerts. Her father used to give her $10 to do so. She did some small roles with her father in the TV series, Doc, in 2001 and later landed a role in Tim Burton's Big Fish.

- Miley auditioned for Hannah Montana's best friend, Lily's role, and was initially told that she was "too young and too small" for the role but was later chosen for the title role.
