Since 2007, when Barack Obama first announced his presidential candidacy and his wife Michelle Obama first came into the international limelight, the whole world has been in awe of her fit body perfectly toned arms. Along with many other initiatives taken up by her, the first lady also took a step to promote healthy living in her country where obesity is a growing issue.
Five years ago, she launched ‘Let’s Move,’ to tackle childhood obesity. She later started a twitter page- @FLOTUS, short for First Lady Of The United States, where she recently started a #GimmeFive campaign, where she urged followers to share five ways in which one can stay healthy, through social media.
Congratulating the First Lady on ‘Let’s Move’ completing five years, President Obama posted a video on Twitter that said: “Hey, @FLOTUS! The President has a challenge for you... #GimmeFive,” where the President talked about how someone as busy as him can take out time to workout a little every day and challenged his wife to show her five of her moves. In response to this, the First Lady posted a video on Twitter, where she showed the world (and her husband) what it takes to get that perfect body.

Michelle Obama’s full-body workout included rope cross-jumping, bench pressing 35-pound dumbbells, doing crunches with a medicine ball, followed by cross-jab and roundhouse kick. This workout was done under the supervision of Cornell McClellan, a member of President Obama’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition.
Along with her video, she posted: “Hey, @POTUS! This is how you #GimmeFive, FLOTUS-style…” Where most First Ladies are usually “all-talk” and just walk with their husbands looking pretty, Michelle Obama is seen with boxing gloves, urging people to take care of their health. Let’s hope to see more and more women like her!
