Michelle Obama, the former First Lady of America, ruled the internet as people couldn't stop admiring her choice of outfit for the Biden-Harris inauguration ceremony. The raspberry coloured cape paired with the same colour turtleneck and trouser Obama wore is from a collection of designer Sergio Hudson.
The part which was highly appreciated by the netizens on Twitter was Hudson's signature belt paired with Michelle Obama's outfit. Even her mask added glamour to her look as she donned a silk mask made by Christy Riling.
This is not the first time that Obama wore an outfit designed by Hudson. She was seen wearing a similar purple suit in her Netflix documentary Becoming designed by the same designer.
Hudson has been called Obama's favourite designer. The designer took to Instagram on January 17 to wish the former first lady on her birthday. He called her his "forever FLOTUS" and wrote, "Thank you for the inspiration you have given to us all. Thank you for supporting the brand and doing it so fabulously!”
Michele Obama's look for the Biden-harris inauguration perfectly fits with the purple dress code of the historic day. The Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris also showed up in purple colour making waves with her up-for-the-job look. The former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was also seen wearing a purple look designed by Ralph Lauren.
The purple colour code of the inauguration resonates with the idea of unity, trust and stability instilled in people by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris who are going to take office after many unfortunate incidents in the country. The colour purple was named the Pantone's colour of the year in 2017 and it is believed that the inspiration behind it was Hillary Clinton who wore purple to her concession speech in 2016.
