Mexico lowers sexual consent age

Mexico has become the latest country to lower its legal age of sexual consent to just 12 years. With this, it has given in to pressure from an international liberal network of activists determined to normalize paedophilia and legalize sex with children across the world, reported Your News Wire.

Bad or Worst?

The Federal law has established this rule. This ensures that sex with someone as young as 12 years will be legal. Although the matter can be prosecuted if deceit or force is used.

The decision has gathered criticism as it is placing millions of children in a vulnerable place, exposing them to a constant danger of being sexually abused. Child protection officials have also shown their disapproval

Mexico witnessed about 29,000 homicides last year. The nation is also home to massive corruption, which goes unpunished. This decision might further deteriorate the country's condition.

Similar movement in other countries

The European Parliament in Brussels is also considering to lower the legal age of sexual consent from 16 to 13 years of age across the European Union.

The motion was proposed by Laurent Henry in the assembly. He said, “Our prisons are filled with young men that have been robbed of their youth, condemned to rot in jail for an act that should not be a crime. Why are we denying these young men the chance to play a more positive role in modern society?"

Top German immigration attorney, Hans Goldsberg, also said that there is a need for such laws to be passed.

The lawyer claimed, “There will be the need for a consolidation of national laws under the current European system on the legal aspects of sex. Most of these national rulings don’t represent the modern social complexities of our times and are legally baseless. Some even argue that a law on the age of consent has become superfluous and should no longer exist.”

United States has also supported the movement. Cultural anthropologist Thomas Black said, “Just think about how 2,000 years ago the Greeks were a much more open society. We must remember that love between a man and a boy were not as taboo as today."
