Men Out On Bail Continue Committing Crimes Against Women: Is This Justice?

In today's world, you can get away with almost anything. You can commit a grave crime and still be able to avoid punishment. You can be jailed and yet you can get a bail and be out again. But what happens when the people who get bail are out in public? Well, they eventually commit crime again as they know they will get a bail, yet again.

Despite several reforms and efforts, we cannot deny that our judiciary system still operates slowly. Delivering justice takes years, releasing convicts takes months, not to forget the Bilkis Bano case and the welcome of released convicts with garlands. The system is such that the criminals know that they will find a way to get away with any crime they commit against women. That is the reason why they are so fearless whether they are committing a crime for the first time or have done it multiple times. The fear of law has almost vanished which is evident from these instances when criminals again resorted to committing crimes once they were out on bail.

Cases Of Men Out On Bail Committing Grave Crimes

Man On Bail Molests 9-Year-Old Girl

A man in Mumbai allegedly molested a 9-year-old girl while she was out to buy some food from a shop in the evening. The 32-year-old man was out on bail for a molestation case and when he saw her, he took her to a dark corner, gagged her and touched her inappropriately. The girl's mother noticed her changed behavior while the family was out for dinner and that's when she came to know that she was molested. The police tried to identify the man from CCTV footage and pictures but they were not clear as it was really dark. However, they circulated the pictures for identification and arrested the man.

Rape Accused Kidnaps Survivor On Bail

In Uttar Pradesh, a rape accused was bailed multiple times and each time he harassed the survivor. The 23-year-old man raped a 15-year-old girl in 2021 and was arrested. However, he was released on bail in 2022 and once out, he threatened and attacked the girl as well as her father in order to pressurise them to withdraw the case. Another case was filed against him and he was arrested again. In 2023, he again got out on bail and this time, he kidnapped the survivor after which her father filed a complaint against him. He was arrested with yet another case against him.

Rape Accused Burns Survivor's House

In Unnao, a rape accused on bail tried to kill the family of the rape survivor by putting their thatched shed on fire. The man was out on bail for raping an 11-year-old girl when he ganged up with her grandfather and uncle and attacked the family. The girl's father was attacked with an axe, she and her mother were physically assaulted before setting their shed on fire which ended up injuring the survivor's six-month-old son and 2-month-old sister. The accused allegedly tried to kill the child that the survivor gave birth to after rape when the family refused to withdraw the case.

Murder Accused Kills Live-In Partner

A man named Vineet Pawar in Delhi was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2019 for a murder along with his father but was granted bail in 2022. While out on bail, he ganged up with his sister to kill his inter-faith live-in partner Robina Naz. Naz has been pressuring him to get married but his family didn't approve. He allegedly killed her due to their religious differences that was causing problems in their relationship. The brother-sister initially wanted to allegedly sell Naz off but after she came to know of their intentions, they strangled her to death and buried her near a school in Karawal Nagar.

Rape Accused Rapes The Survivor Again On Bail

In Bhopal, a man accused of rape of 24-year-old raped her again while out in bail. The two of them met through a mutual friend about 2 years back and the man raped her on the pretext on marriage. The woman filed a case against him when he refused to marry her. He was arrested but was released on bail after which he compromised sorted things out with the girl. He promised to marry her in a written undertaking presented before the court and the two got into a live-in relationship. However, when the woman asked her about marriage, he refused after which she again filed a rape case against him and got him arrested.
