Mehbooda Mufti: Mehbooba Mufti, former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, got unanimous votes to get re-elected as the President of People's Democratic Party (PDP) of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mufti will now serve as the party leader for another three years. The news of her unanimous re-election was confirmed by a spokesperson of PDP. Party's senior leader Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura and Khurshid Alam had proposed Mufti's name for the President's role. The election board was headed by another leader of PDP Abdul Rehman Veeri. While Surinder Chaudhary was the returning officer.

Mehbooba Mufti thanked her party members for her election and said, "I would like to thank my party men for once again placing their faith by re-electing me as PDP President. I know the path ahead is challenging but nothing will deter me from pursuing the vision of our leader Mufti sahab."
She took over her father Mufti Mohammed Sayeed's role as the Chief Minister of J&K after his death in 2016. Just after two years of her taking the office, the central government announced the President's rule in the state. Jammu and Kashmir were later declared as Union Territory in October 2019. Mufti along with other leaders of the region was put under house arrest for about 14 months. The People's Democratic Party was formed in 1998 by her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
