Meghan and Harry to not return as royals: Buckingham Palace released a statement confirming that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will to return to take their royal duties.
The announcement follows the week-long conjectures on the return of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have informed the Queen that the two will give up their titles. The two had left the UK last year and had moved to Canada.
“Following conversations with the duke, the Queen has written confirming that in stepping away from the work of the royal family it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service," the Buckingham Palace said its statement.
The statement added that the military roles of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will be returned to the Queen and new appointments will be made. The statement also mentioned, “While all are saddened by their decision, the duke and duchess remain much-loved members of the family.”
A spokesperson of the royal palace gave their statement to the Guardian and said that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are committed to their duties and service to the UK and have offered their continued support.
