A woman in Uttar Pradesh died while giving birth to her child at a hospital in Meerut. Her family has alleged negligence of the hospital staff to be the cause of death, demanding action against the hospital authorities.
"A woman named Neetu was scheduled to deliver her baby at a private hospital. Today, on August 30, the police received information that the mother and the child both died. We have told their relatives to file a complaint, based on which appropriate action will be taken," Circle Officer (CO) Anil Kumar Rai told ANI on Sunday. The police officer added that the cause of death, and negligence, if any, on behalf of the hospital will come out on the basis of the medical report.

In a similar incident in Kolkata, a woman died at Baghajatin State General Hospital on Sunday. Her family members have lodged a complaint with the Netaji Nagar police alleging medical negligence against the hospital staff. Times Of India reported that the woman, Rima Basu, who lived on BL Saha Road, died after giving birth to a daughter, due to complications following caesarean delivery.“We are sending the case to the state health department.”
A week ago, a five-month pregnant woman, identified as Asha Devi allegedly died due to lack of proper treatment and negligence of staff at the government hospital in Almora. Her family has alleged that she was denied treatment as the staff couldn't get her tested for COVID-19.

A probe was ordered into the case by the District Magistrate of Almora. “I have ordered a magisterial inquiry into the death of a pregnant woman and appointed additional district magistrate BS Firmal as the investigating officer. Statements of the family of the woman and officials will be recorded and I have sought a report to be submitted by August 25. Whoever is found guilty, strict action will be taken against them,” said Nitin Bhadouriya, district magistrate of Almora, as reported by Hindustan Times.
