Mandira Bedi Adopts A Four-Year-Old Girl, Names Her Tara Bedi Kaushal

Actress and model Mandira Bedi adopted a four-year-old girl in July. Now, introducing her to the world as Tara Bedi Kaushal, Bedi and her husband Raj Kaushal shared in an Instagram post writing that their family is "now complete". The couple also has a nine-year-old son, Vir.

Taking to her Instagram recently, Bedi shared the news and wrote, “She has come to us, Like a blessing from above. Our little girl, Tara." Bedi also posted a picture of the family, adding, "Four years and a bit. With eyes that sparkle like stars. Sister to her Vir. Welcoming her home. With open arms and pure love. Grateful, thankful. blessed. Tara Bedi Kaushal." She also mentioned that the girl became a part of the family on 28 July.

Late last year, while speaking to Hindustan Times, Bedi had revealed that she was keen on adopting a child. She said, “Raj and I wanted a sister for Vir. My son is eight and we are looking at adopting a girl who could be between two-and-a-half to four-years-old. We have already thought of a name for her. We are going to call her Tara.”

The actress who was part of the star cast for the iconic film The Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, which has completed 25 years of its release recently, go married to Kaushal in 1999. They had applied at CARA (Central Adoption Resource Authority) more than two years ago. “Unfortunately, the procedure hasn’t moved forward since then. I’m eagerly waiting to get approval from them so that we can bring a new addition to our family,” she had said.

Earlier, Mandira Bedi had opened up about how she was "perceived as a career-oriented" person for prioritising her work commitments over having a child. "Living in Indian society, as a woman you tend to face several stereotypes. When I decided to delay my pregnancy due to work commitments, it was the most difficult decision I had to make. I was looked at differently, and people perceived me as a woman who is career-oriented," she was quoted as saying.

"You would think that is a good trait to have, but our society thinks differently of a married woman. In fact, even after my child was born, I was always divided between my personal and professional lives," added the Shanti actress.
