The DCP said, "He was on his way to Suratgarh (in Sri Ganganagar) when we detained his friend, Jitendra, who revealed his whereabouts to us. We put pressure on his father, relatives and friends… Arora then turned around and we picked him up from Jaipur."

Arora's friend Jitendra has also been detained and Police are investigating his role in the crime. "Arora had dropped off his car with Jitendra, who then took Arora in his own car and dropped him off in another location, from where he helped him hire a cab,” the DCP said.

An amount of Rs 9 lakh was discovered from Arora's car. During the preliminary questioning, he said that he paid that amount to Jitendra to help him hire a lawyer and deal with the case. Arora is originally from Ellenabad in Hryana's Sirsa. he has a garment showroom in Jaipur and his father has a business of spices.

Why the incident is terrifying

The incident terrifies us to the core as it is an example of what a fragile male ego can do. It is sad that the woman had to lose her life because a man couldn't control his rage out of a shattered ego. Moreover, his ego was formed out of his pride that he can hit at any girl he comes across, touch her inappropriately and pass lewd comments without being pulled out for it. This is how the ego of most men in our society is crafted. The unconditional freedom to do anything blindfolds their ability to think. All they know is they are unstoppable in a society ruled by patriarchy.

Suthar's attempt to call out his behaviour hurt Arora's ego. Every woman should actually attempt to question that unconditional freedom. Because being silent during injustice is equal to committing it. But then, what if they face the fate of Suthar? What if one night they are randomly killed or assaulted? Who will save us?

We cannot even hope for safety from society because it will blame women for raising their voices or trying to meddle with a man. But when will society question men for their fragile egos? When will men be taught to think beyond their ego and rage? When will they taught to respect the lives of women?

The society that we need is the one that supports women's rights to speak up and condemns men's unconditional freedom to commit crimes. But the society we live in is the one that shuts their women up, sometimes to death, to let the male ego retain its throne.
