Pune: Man Rapes Woman In Front Of Husband Who Defaulted Loan

A 47-year-old man has been arrested by the Pune city police for allegedly raping a 34-year-old woman in front of her husband, who was unable to repay the loan. The accused also filmed the act and posted it on social media.

As per the complaint, the incident took place in February this year. The accused, identified as Imtiaz Shaikh, reportedly lent Rs. 40,000 to the woman’s husband. Since the husband had failed to repay the loan, the accused had resorted to issuing abusive threats to the couple.

Later, the accused called the couple to an isolated location in the Hadapsar government colony in February and demanded that they repay the loan, where he then allegedly held them at knifepoint and raped the woman in front of the husband.

The complaint states that the accused raped the woman multiple times, recorded the act on his mobile phone, and allegedly uploaded it to social media platforms.

Subsequently, the accused had been tormenting the woman by asking for further sexual favours. After she consistently refused, he posted the video of the brutal sexual assault on social media platforms.

Finally, the woman mustered up the courage and filed a complaint at Hadapsar police station earlier this week, registering an FIR that led to the accused’s arrest.

Inspector Ravindra Shelake said that they tracked down the accused and arrested him yesterday. The accused was produced in front of the court, which ordered him to be remanded until Thursday. He added that further investigations are ongoing.

The Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rape, repeated rape, criminal intimidation, and relevant sections under the Information Technology Act.

The police are also trying to find out if the accused has exploited other women in the past in a similar manner. The horrifying incident has sent shockwaves throughout the city.
