Man Lynched In Gujarat's Valsad For Refusing To Marry His Fiancée

The police have arrested the accused people in the case. A 20-year-old man named Sanjay Bhusra was thrashed to death in Valsad of Gujarat, as per reports.

Reports of a man lynched by a group of villagers have come out from the tribal village of Aaslona in Gujarat. The man who was in a live-in relationship with his fiancée for the past year reportedly refused to marry her which was not taken well by the villagers.

The police have arrested the accused people in the case. A 20-year-old man named Sanjay Bhusra was thrashed to death in Valsad of Gujarat, as per reports.

Man Lynched To Death In Gujarat For Refusing To Marry Fiancée:

The man who was engaged to a girl from the village for the last three years refused to marry her. The couple was also in a live-in relationship for the past year. When the man refused to marry his partner, the matter reached the panchayat. The father of the girl, Lakshman Gavli, reportedly asked the village panchayat to look into the matter.

A video of the incident also circulated on the social media platform. The clip shows a group of men thrashing Sanjay. Even after he falls in the pit, they continue thrashing him until he actually died. While the clip also shows some other villagers trying to stop the accused, they continued doing so.

The police investigations reveal that on refusing to marry his fiancée after living with her for one year, Sanjay was thrashed to death by the villagers.

The complaint was filed to the police by deceased's father Anand Bhusra. The police has arrested seven people for allegedly murdering the man- namely, Lakshman Gavli, Uttam Gavli, Sunil Gavli ,Chhagan Gavli, Raman Gavli, Sitabhai Gavli and Mahdu Gavli. The incident took place at tribal village of Aaslona in Gujarat.

Law On Live-In Relationships:

Live-in relationships come under ambit of Article 21 of the Indian Constitution which guarantees right to life. The act of two consenting adults living together cannot be considered illegal or unlawful. A Supreme Court judgement reiterated that live-in relationship is "normal and an acceptable norm. Being in live-in relationship is not a crime and with changing time it has become a norm accepted by society"
