Gulmohar Vihar resident Sanjeev Gupta works in the private sector. Five years ago, he married Shobhita Gupta of Kidwai Nagar. They have a daughter who is 2.5 years old.
Sanjeev Gupta claims that the event happened on Monday after a domestic dispute between the couple. The woman leaves the noose in the 20-second video after realising her husband is recording it.
The two allegedly continued their argument on the terrace after that. After some time, Shobhita Gupta hanged herself upon returning downstairs. After coming down, Sanjeev Gupta discovered her unconscious. He quickly rushed her to a private hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
According to ACP Govind Nagar, Vikas Kumar Pandey, a police team arrived at the scene after being informed by Sanjeev Gupta.
“Prima facie, it appeared that the woman died by suicide. A post-mortem of the body and forensic probe of the crime scene was also done, and the reports are awaited,” he reportedly said. In the meantime, Shobhita Gupta's relatives claimed that Sanjeev Gupta killed her and then hung her body after the video went viral.
The ACP informed Amar Ujala that no complaint had been made against anyone in the issue; he added, "An FIR will be lodged if any complaint gets filed."
After watching the video, everyone was shocked to discover that he had let Shobhita Gupta died by suicide rather than save her. Police have detained Sanjeev Gupta. According to reports, the husband and wife argued for a long time.
According to ACP Anup Singh, the video and the entire incident are being investigated. After the post-mortem, he stated that the matter would be looked into further.
