In a heart-wrenching turn of events, a young couple in Ghaziabad faced a devastating fate within 24 hours. Abhishek Ahluwalia, 25, tragically succumbed to a heart attack during a visit to the Delhi Zoo, and less than a day later, his wife Anjali took her own life by jumping from the seventh floor.
The couple, who had tied the knot on November 30, had planned a cheerful day out at the zoo on Monday, February 26. However, the day took a dark turn when Abhishek complained of chest pain while at the zoo. Anjali, in distress, contacted his friends, and Abhishek was initially taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital and later referred to Safdarjung Hospital.
25-Year-Old Man Succumbs To Heart Attack
Despite medical efforts, doctors at Safdarjung Hospital declared Abhishek dead, attributing the cause to a heart attack. The news of his untimely demise devastated the newlyweds' home at Ahlcon Apartments in Ghaziabad's Vaishali. Overwhelmed by grief, Anjali, unable to cope with her husband's loss, rushed to the seventh-floor balcony and took a fatal leap.
The sequence of events unfolded tragically, as Abhishek's relative, Babita, recounted, "After the body was brought home, she sat next to it, weeping. Then she suddenly got up and ran towards the balcony. I figured that she was going to jump. I ran after her, but before I could stop her, she had jumped."
Sanjiv, another relative, shared that Abhishek was initially taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, about 20 km from the zoo, and later transferred to Safdarjung. Despite the medical team's efforts, they couldn't save him. The profound shock and grief led to this devastating incident, emphasising the emotional toll on the young widow.
The rising number of untimely deaths among youth due to heart-related issues underscores the need for heightened awareness and preventive measures to address this concerning health trend. In recent years, there have been numerous reports of young adults experiencing sudden cardiac events and subsequently passing away, occurring in a variety of settings ranging from festive gatherings such as Garba events and marriage processions to fitness facilities like gyms.
