A software engineer from Pune, Maharashtra committed the crime of circulating a woman's indecent photos on social media. The accused decided to defame the woman after she rejected his proposal. The man then went on to create a fake social media profile and posted some of her inappropriate pictures along with her phone number. Soon, she started getting numerous phone calls from strangers who desired sexual favours.
The police say that both the woman and the accused were studying in the same engineering college. Both of them graduated as software engineers who started working in different firms in Pune.
“The 27-year-old woman was continuously receiving calls from unknown persons and one of the callers told her that her photographs and number had been shared on the social networking site," said a police official.
The woman subsequently filed a police complaint against the man. The accused was then caught and arrested. The police have registered him under the required sections of the Indian Penal Code for outrageously dishonouring the woman. He has also been booked under several charges under the Information and Technology Act.

A few days ago, a shopkeeper named Samir Hamid Shaikh was held up for recording a woman's video while she was using the washroom in an eatery. The man had kept his phone on recording mode and slid it under the washroom's door. As soon as the woman saw it, she alerted everyone. The police then arrested the man after going through the CCTV footage.
In Delhi, a man was arrested for blackmailing 100 women by threatening to make their indecent photos viral. He professed this form of intimidation in an attempt to extract money from the women. Moreover, the same man was held up earlier for committing the same crimes and was arrested in Chhattisgarh.
