Bengaluru Woman Assault: An 'abusive' husband allegedly beat his wife in a brutal manner when she asked him to pay their son's school fee.
A 39-year old woman in Bengaluru was reportedly assaulted by her husband after she asked him to pay their elder son's school fees on Thursday. The woman was seriously injured by the brutal assault, leaving her unconscious and was rushed to the nearest hospital.
The police has registered a case against her husband under Indian Penal Code sections 324 (assault), 504 (intentional insult provoking breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation). However, he has not been arrested as of now.
The quarrel and assault
As per the report of the newspaper Bangalore Mirror, the couple had a love marriage 12 years ago, which led to the woman's family cutting ties with her as they did not approve of the marriage. Moreover, her in-laws allegedly began treating her badly shortly after the marriage and she was compelled to move to a rented accommodation in Bengaluru’s BTR Garden, with her husband and two sons – aged nine and seven years. Over the last few years, the her husband allegedly became abusive towards her.
On Thursday, she reminded him to pay the fees of their elder son, who is in Class 3 at a reputed school in the city, and informed him that their son won't be allowed to attend online classes if the fee isn't paid at the earliest.
That is when he reportedly lost his mind and started blaming her for his financial problems. This quarrel led to him physically abusing her by trapping her in the space between the dining table and a wall and beating her with a chair, until the chair broke.
After that, he allegedly assaulted her with a utensil rack. Their elder son rushed to the spot on hearing the cries. The man slapped him multiple times when he tried to stop him.
As a result of the brutal assault, the woman lost her consciousness and was taken to hospital for treatment. At the hospital, the doctors raised a medico-legal case and the police subsequently arrived to record the woman’s statement.
As per the woman's statement, her husband has been charged with multiple offences, as already mentioned.
