A man was arrested by Gurugram police on Friday for allegedly attacking his live-in partner with a screwdriver and injuring her badly for refusing to have sex with him.
The accused, identified as Shivam Kumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh, was arrested in Rajiv Chowk, Gurugram, and an FIR was lodged against him at the Sadar police station.
Man Attacks Live-In Partner For Refusing Sex
The complainant, a 28-year-old woman who is also a native of Uttar Pradesh, alleged that Kumar forced her to have a sexual relationship with him on Thursday. When she turned down her advances, he allegedly attacked her with a screwdriver on her neck.
The woman mentioned in her complaint that she was living separately from her husband in a rented room in Gurugram, where she met Shivam Kumar. She revealed that the duo got into a live-in relationship shortly after. She claimed that Kumar had a sexual relationship with her on the pretext of marriage. However, she later discovered that he was married.
She said that on Thursday evening, he came on a bike and forced her to have a sexual relationship with him again, and when she refused, he got angry and attacked her with a screwdriver. She added that the neighbours rushed her to the hospital.
Based on the woman’s complaint, an FIR was registered at the Sadar police station. A team was formed under the leadership of sub-inspector Sandeep Kumar, who was in charge of Naharpur Police Chowki.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Varun Dahiya said that the team arrested the accused from Rajiv Chowk on Friday, adding that the accused was currently under questioning. He also mentioned that the accused will be produced in a city court on Saturday.
