Mamata rents Nandigram houses: Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mamata Banerjee has rented out two houses in Nandigram, the constituency from where she is contesting assembly elections this time, after former protege and now primary opposition Suvendhu Adhikari said she is an "outsider" in the area.
Both houses are located in Reyapara, as per reports. Locals informed that one house has been rented for a year, and the other, for six months. The Chief Minister has also asserted she will build a permanent residence in Nandigram so as to frequent her visits.
Mamata Rents Nandigram Houses, Feud With Adhikari Family Grows
As the high-stakes political battle with opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) inches closer towards poll showdown, Banerjee and Adhikari have toughened their blows. For their shift from TMC to BJP, Banerjee strongly criticised the Adhikari family.
"I am a big donkey). I failed to recognise the faces of these traitors. I don’t know, but people say their empire is worth Rs 5,000 crore. I was not aware of it. They will use the money to buy votes. But don’t vote for them," she said on Sunday at a rally in East Midnapore.
Suvendhu Adhikari has repeatedly tagged Banerjee with the "outsider" label and alluded to his own title as the "true son" of Nandigram. Adhikari was among those notable for the anti-land-acquisition movement in Nandigram in the 2000s, which was central to bringing the TMC and Banerjee to power in Bengal in 2011.
