Mamata Banerjee attacked: The Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday claimed that she was attacked in Nandigram and was later rushed back to Kolkata.
Banerjee has reportedly suffered a foot injury. She said that there was no police present at the place where the incident took place. "Four or five people came in front of the car and pushed the door. This was done purposely," Banerjee said. The Election Commission has sought a detailed report on the incident from West Bengal Chief Secretary Alapan.
She added, " Not even one police official was present. 4-5 people intentionally manhandled me in presence of the public. No local police present during the program, not even SP. It was definitely a conspiracy. There were no police officials for 4-5 hours in such a huge public gathering."

Banerjee had been in Nandigram to file her nomination for TMC on Wednesday ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in the state. This year, she will run for the Nandigram seat as opposed to her traditional Bhowanipore seat and will be facing BJP's Suvendhu Adhikari.
While filing her nomination at the Haldia office, Banerjee addressed the masses and said, "I seek blessings from everyone for TMC's win. I am praying for all the candidates to win the seats."
The candidate list released by TMC features 50 female candidates, there are many from Muslims, SC and ST communities.
Suvendhu Adhikari, Banerjee's opponent in Nandigram was a former TMC member who joined BJP in December last year. He is going to file his nomination on March 12. He recently attacked Mamata Banerjee and called her an outsider to which Banerjee replied, "I heard some people are calling me an outsider in Nandigram. I am amazed. I was born and brought up in the neighbouring Birbhum district, and the person who is calling me an outsider was also not born here."
Bengal assembly election will take place in eight phases and will start from March 27. It will go on till April 29 and the results will be declared on May 2.
