In a series of terrible executive orders signed by President Donald Trump, is the one which seeks to revive the Dakota Access Keystone pipeline which was halted by the Obama administration. The construction is likely to adversely affect native-American lands in the US and none other than 18-year-old Malia Obama has come out in solidarity with the native American community to protest the construction of the pipeline.
Malia Obama took part in an event which supported the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's protest against the Dakota Access Pipeline.
In her first week of reentering civilian life, President Barack Obama's daughter, attended the acclaimed Sundance Film Festival. Here she took part in an event which supported the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's protest against the Dakota Access Pipeline. Actress Shailene Woodley who has been consistently protesting against the construction of the pipeline and has even been arrested for the same said in an interview that it was a pleasant surprise to have the former first daughter join their cause. In fact she had merged into the crowd so well, people only took notice after Woodley happened to speak about her while talking to DemocracyNow.org.
"It was amazing to see Malia. To witness a human being and a woman coming into her own outside of her family and outside of the attachments that this country has on her," said Woodley
She said, "It was amazing to see Malia. To witness a human being and a woman coming into her own outside of her family and outside of the attachments that this country has on her, but someone who's willing to participate in democracy because she chooses to, because she recognizes, regardless of her last name, that if she doesn't participate in democracy, there will be no world for her future children."
