A task force led by collectors is going to be set up for the protection of the children orphaned by COVID-19 in Maharashtra.
As the pandemic due to the COVID-19 many cases have been reported where children have lost both their parents to the virus. In order to protect such children, the government of Maharashtra has taken certain measures.
Women and Child Development Minister Of Maharashtra Yashomati Thakur said that the children becoming orphans due to the COVID-19 pandemic is a social problem. She further said that the state government is, therefore, setting up a task force to ensure that these children are nurtured, protected and educated.
According to a PTI report, a government official said, that a task force would be set up in each district of Maharashtra for these children. It would include the commissioners of civic bodies, police chiefs, rural health officials etc of the district. This task force would be headed by the collectors.
A total of 1,80,88,042 people have been vaccinated in Maharashtra so far. On Sunday, a total of 1,10,448 beneficiaries received the COVID-19 vaccination in the state of Maharashtra said the state government.
A total of 11,27,341 health care workers have received their first dose of the vaccination. Out of these, 6,68,901 have got their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccination too. According to the reports, 4,36,302 people aged between 18 to 44 years of age, received the COVID-19 vaccine since it started on May 1. The state of Maharashtra has reportedly given the first dose to 1,21,00,410 citizens of the state. With this, 20,67,190 citizens have also received their second dose of the vaccine.
On Sunday, the state reported 48,401 newly detected case of COVID-19. The final tally of infected cases as of Sunday for the state of Maharashtra was 51,01,737 and the death toll was 75,849.
