Maharashtra Colleges To Reopen: Maharashtra's Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant announced that colleges and universities will reopen from February 15 with 50 per cent attendance.
Maharashtra's educational institutions have remained shut since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that the colleges and universities will be re-opening, the 75 per cent compulsory attendance criteria will not be followed. Students will attend their classes on a rotational basis. The minister had earlier said that he would make his decision on reopening these institutions in a day or two.

The governor had found the Maharashtra government's reluctance to reopen colleges and universities 'ironical'. He said that if schools for classes V-VIII can be reopened, colleges should not be excused.
