Maharashtra: 13-Year-Old Gangraped In Nashik; Seven People Including One Minor Arrested

A 13-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped in Maharashtra’s Nashik district on Saturday. The police have arrested five men along with a woman and a minor boy in connection with the case. The incident took place in Nashik’s road area and the survivor is currently being treated at the district civil hospital.

According to a police official, when the survivor’s parents came back from work on Saturday night they didn’t find their daughter at home reported India Today. After searching for her they found her on the nearby society’s terrace where she was sitting alone and crying. On asking the girl revealed about the incident and subsequently they lodged a complaint at the Nashik Road police station.

The accused men were between 19-29 years of age along with a minor boy and a woman. The police have nabbed all 7 accused based on the complaint registered by the survivor’s parents. The woman allegedly helped the accused men in the crime. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the accused.

In Jharkhand, a 50-year-old woman was gangraped by three youths in the Chatra district. The accused men brutalised the survivor's private part by inserting a metal tumbler. The police have arrested two men and are on the lookout for the one remaining who is absconding. Read more here.

In another similar incident, a 19-year-old girl was allegedly raped at gunpoint and thrown off the terrace of her house by her neighbour in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. She suffered multiple injuries and fractures in the spinal cord. According to the complaint registered by the girl’s father, the accused sneaked into his daughter’s room through the terrace.
