Disney+ Hotstar has announced the adaption of the epic tale of Mahabharata. Disney+ Hotstar took to its social media to announce the adaptation by releasing few motion pictures for the same.
The adaptation of Mahabharata will launch in 2024 and the production is currently underway. The cast is yet to be announced. The show's first look was shared at Walt Disney's D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. The D23 Expo is expected to continue till Sunday.

The OTT streaming service shared the first look of the show and captioned," The greatest epic ever written - retold at a scale never seen before! Stay tuned for an ethereal spectacle - Mahabharata."
Head of content at Disney+ Hotstar Gaurav Banerjee marked his presence at the D23 Expo event in California alongside Rebecca Campbell, head of international content and operations at The Walt Disney. Stating that Indian epics have captured the interest of billions throughout the world for ages, Banerjee said that," while over a billion people know the story of Mahabharat in some form or another, it'll be interesting and spectacle to bring the story alive once again - this time at a larger scale globally."
The epic tale of Mahabharata has graced the screen multiple times through television or OTT. Filmmaker BR Chopra first helmed the show for television in 1988 on Doordarshan, which was a huge success. Director and producer Siddharth Kumar Tewary also brought on screen the epic tale in 2013, which again became popular and had a great cast. Tewary's version of Mahabharata is currently available on Disney+ Hotstar.
The producers also revealed that while the casting is underway, the creative writing sessions have been in development for a few months now. They will be ready to bring the story in front of the global audience in 2024. The adaptation showcases the battle between feuding relatives, the Pandavas and the Kauravas, and revolves around the plot of how good overcomes evil. Mythoverse Studios, Madhu Mantena and Allu Entertainment are the producers of the new adaptation.
Mahabharata is one of the three Indian shows announced at the Disney Expo. The other two shows include Showtime and Koffee With Karan Season 8.
