Madhya Pradesh teacher strike: Teachers sat for a strike outside a BJP office in Bhopal on August 18 to protest against unemployment. According to the surfaced videos, the women performed sit-ups, laid on the streets, sat with rakhis in their hands to request the state to recruit them as they have passed the exam.
After ten hours of continuation, the movement ended in the afternoon of Wednesday after the intervention of Collector Avinash Lavania and Deputy Inspector General of Police Irshad Wali. Lavania and Wali collectively asked the teachers to leave. However, when the concerned teachers did not agree, FIRs were filed against them. Reportedly, some of the teachers were also forcefully removed by the officials.
According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, the officials scared the protesting teachers away by stating that if they wouldn't stop, FIRs would be lodged against every single of the protesters, which will result in no chance for obtaining jobs anywhere.
According to the surfaced videos, the women were seen practising sit-ups, carrying Rakhis and also laid on their stomachs on the streets to request the government to recruit them. Gradually many women left the protest when it started raining, while others stood their ground with umbrellas.
Many women broke down during the course of action. A woman was seen pleading with folded hands in front of the policemen urging for their demands to be met.
One of the protesting teachers, Vinita Sharma, reportedly fainted during the movement from the active sloganeering and campaigning. She stated that she was selected for the post of Samvida Shala Shikshak Class-1 three years ago but the appointment has not been received in the school still now.
Another teacher Manoj Rajouria said that they have appeared for state level exam for more than 15 times. Every time they receive assurances from ministers and officials, no action is taken.
Back in 2018, the State Government issued a notification to appoint more than 30 thousand posts of teachers for classes 1 and 2 of government schools. The eligibility test for these posts was conducted in 2019. The government appointment letters are not being issued.
