CBI Probe Ordered In Alleged Police Assault Of Minor Rape Survivor In Gwalior: What To Know

Police assault rape survivor: The Madhya Pradesh High Court Wednesday ordered a Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) probe in a case of alleged physical assault by police authorities against a minor gangrape survivor.

A bench of Justice GS Ahluwalia directed for an FIR to be filed against personnel involved and the transfer of other senior police officials, as per a PTI report. The court has also imposed a fine of rupees fifty thousand that will go as compensation to the survivor.

The minor girl and her family, of the Scheduled Caste community, were allegedly beaten in a bid to save the persons accused in the gangrape.

1. Reports suggest the alleged gangrape took place on January 31 in Morar, where the young girl worked as domestic help. The house owner's grandson and his friends have been named as the accused in the case. No arrests have been made yet.

2. After the minor revealed details of the alleged sexual assault incident to her family, they went to Morar police station to file an FIR under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. As per earlier reports, there was pressure on the girl to quash the allegations, by both the police and accused's family.

3. The advocate representing the minor alleges the family was thrashed at the police station, pressured by the accused persons. As per the allegations, a female police officer shot videos of the assault which were later circulated on social media. There was alleged police inaction and the lack of proper investigation in the case as well.

4. According to PTI, officers against whom the court directed inquiry and action include station in charge Ajay Pawar, police officers Ram Naresh Pachori and Preeti Bhargava. Their transfer has been ordered.

5. The case material will reportedly be handed over to the CBI now with a senior official taking charge.
