An employee of the Indian Air Force (IAF) has been arrested on Wednesday for allegedly molesting a minor girl in the Gola Mandir area, Madhya Pradesh. Gwalior Police have arrested the IAF employee after the girl registered a complaint at the police station on Monday, ANI reported. According to the girl, the employee is a friend of her father.
According to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Suman Gurjar, "A case has been registered against the accused under section 354 of IPC".

"The girl came in with her father on December 7 to report the cases. She told us that a friend of her father has been molesting her for the last four to five years. We contacted the Air Force people and the man was arrested," said the police.

A recent National Crime Records Bureau data showed that Madhya Pradesh has recorded the highest number of rape cases in the country. The statistics revealed a significant rise in cases of crimes against minors, almost 60% of the total rape cases. MP has reported 5,433 cases of rape, of which 1,047 cases of rapes of minors under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have been lodged. The total number of rape cases went up to 6,480 in the state. This means 18 rapes per day were reported in the state.
MP has been setting a record of the highest number of rape cases reported in the country for several years now. Between 2014-18, the state topped the list with 25,259 cases during the five-year period, followed by 19,406 in Uttar Pradesh, 18,542 in Rajasthan and 15,613 in Maharashtra. Assam reported 8,889 rape cases during the said period, while 8,693 such cases were registered in Delhi and 8,592 in Chhattisgarh.
