Ludhiana rape case: Ludhiana police filed a complaint against a medical store owner for rape after the 30-year-old survivor resorted to social media and her video on the incident went viral. The police had initially refused to register the first-person report (FIR) of the survivor and told her to "take money from the accused and settle the issue."
The survivor alleged that she was ill in April this year and due to her poor financial condition asked the owner to give her the medicines on credit. But one day when she was alone at her home, the owner allegedly came to the house and injected her with some sedative. The survivor said that she lost consciousness and allege that the accused raped her. She also said that he took "objectionable" pictures and videos of her and later started blackmailing her for a physical relationship.
She alleged that after she became pregnant, the accused told her to "send her 12-year-old daughter to him".
After which the survivor approached the police and wanted to file a first-person report (FIR) at the Moti Nagar police station. The woman claimed that the cop allegedly told her to "take money from the accused and settle the issue." Post which, the survivor took to social media and made a video seeking justice.
It is only after the video began doing rounds on social media that the police registered the FIR against the accused. According to the Hindustan Time report, the investigating officer (IO) and sub-inspector Sulakhan Singh has denied the allegations by the woman against the police. Singh said that the woman had come to file the case on November 16, Tuesday. It was she who asked them to take the case slow as she first wanted to consult her family on the incident, the officer said. He added that the woman never turned up again.

In November 2021, a rape survivor had to post on social media and after her video went viral, only then was the government official who was accused of rape was arrested by the police. The survivor alleged that she was raped by the accused in 2018. The survivor had tried using the video she made of the accused assaulting her sexually to file a report on October 29 but no arrest was made as the accused was "well-connected".
