Wellness Centre Fraud Case: Lucknow Police reached Shilpa Shetty's Mumbai residence on August 11 to question the actor and her mother in a fraud case.
Shilpa Shetty and her mother Sunanda Shetty were reportedly issued a letter by Lucknow police in connection with a wellness centre fraud case. The owner of the said wellness centre issued her statement on the same. She claimed that Shetty and her mother are not part of their chain as they had parted ways with them a long time ago.
Earlier this week, the Lucknow police had said they will visit Mumbai to interrogate Shetty and her mother in the fraud case. As per the police, two FIRs were lodged against the actor and her mother for allegedly taking crores of rupees in the name of opening a branch of IOSIS Wellness centre but never delivered. The police had reportedly listed Shetty and her mother as chairperson and director of the company.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Suman had reportedly said that the case involving Shetty and her mother is a high-profile one so the police will be closely probing the matter. The police team from Lucknow reached the Mumbai residence of Shilpa Shetty on August 11. according to reports.
However, Kiran Bawa who is the owner of IOSIS Wellness Centre issued her statement on her official Instagram handle and said that Shetty and her mother are no longer associated with them. Bawa said, "Ms Shilpa Shetty and her Ms Sunanda Shetty have no connection with IOSIS. We have parted ways amicably long ago. "
She added that she is a single parent and a hardworking professional. " IOSIS is my baby and a brand I have built over the years. I am more than happy to verify facts with the concerned authorities. " She also asked the false information about Shetty being the chairperson of her company's chairperson removed from different as she said that the Bombay High Court's order is in the company's favour.
This legal trouble for Shetty comes at a time when her husband and businessman Raj Kundra is in police custody after his arrest on July 19. Kundra was arrested by Mumbai police for allegedly making and distributing pornographic films. The police also called him a "key conspirator" in the case.
Recently a Mumbai court rejected Kundra's bail petition. The Mumbai police had opposed the bail and said that the businessman has UK citizenship and can easily flee the country if he comes out on bail.
