UP: 'Looteri Dulhan' Tests HIV Positive In Jail; Had Married Five Men

A woman who allegedly duped men into marrying her and then ran off with their wealth has tested HIV Positive in jail. The woman in her 20s has been married five times and the entire duping fiasco was a part of a gang-run crime ring. However, now the woman is lodged in Muzzafarnagar jail with six others. After she tested HIV Positive, the police were in search of the men she married and developed a physical relationship with. 

The runaway bride tested HIV positive 

The woman in question is in her 20s. She used to pose as the bride while the other members of the gang became her relatives. The gang specialised in arranging marriages in the local areas. As per the reports, the gang targeted men in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. 

Many such cases of cheating in marriage were being reported from Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand. Consequently, the police started investigating. They caught hold of the seven members of the gang including the woman and her mother. The woman told the police that she married five men, three of them were from Uttarakhand.

Now when the woman and her gang are in custody, another issue has left the police in a fix. The woman was arrested on May 6. She underwent a medical examination at a district hospital which declared her HIV Positive. Currently, the woman is undergoing antiretroviral therapy (ART).

Jail superintendent Sitaram Sharma told TOI that the police are desperately looking for the men the woman duped and developed physical relationships with. The search is being conducted in Muzzafarnagar and other areas of UP. 

Sharma confirmed the HIV-positive news and said, "Once in jail, her medical examination was conducted at the district hospital where her HIV-positive status was confirmed. Ever since, her ART has been going on."

Three duped men of Uttarakhand found HIV positive

On the other hand, health officials of Uttarakhand have revealed that three men whom the woman married have tested HIV positive. The test was conducted by the health department of Udham Singh Nagar collaborating with an NGO. These three men are also undergoing ART. Their family members are also being tested for HIV. 

Another case of a runaway bride

In another incident of Runaway Bride, a 31-year-old man Ajaysinh Solanki was looted by a woman he married 10 days ago. This incident happened in March 2024 in Gujarat. After being looted, Solanki filed a complaint at the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Gir's Somnath. The Somnath police caught five members of the 'Looteri Dulhan' gang who revealed that they received a commission for arranging marriages with men desperately wanting to marry.
