A recent viral video showing a young girl riding a scooter with her father as a pillion rider has sparked widespread criticism on social media. The video has ignited debates around road safety and parental responsibility, with the major concern being the absence of helmets on the girl and her father.
Little Girl Rides Scooter with Dad, No Helmet Sparks Debate
The video, reportedly from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, has accumulated over 4.9 million views since it was first shared online. The clip shows the young girl in a school uniform, confidently riding the scooter while her father sits behind her. However, neither of them is wearing a helmet, which immediately draws viewers' attention.
The caption of the video reads, "Shocking visuals from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar," and it quickly became a focal point of criticism on social media, with many people expressing concerns about road safety and the father’s lack of responsibility.
As the video gained traction, social media platforms were flooded with comments, most of them slamming the father for not ensuring his child’s safety. "No hate for the kid, please. Parents need to be responsible," wrote one user, highlighting the importance of parental responsibility in such situations. Another user added, "This is exactly why so many accidents are happening. What kind of parenting is this?"
One of the more commonly raised concerns was the absence of helmets. "Where is the helmet, sir? Neither you nor your daughter are wearing one," another individual remarked, echoing the thoughts of many others who were alarmed by the dangerous behaviour.
This video is part of a larger trend of incidents involving minors and risky behaviour on the road. Many people on social media linked this to previous occurrences where children were caught driving or riding vehicles unsupervised. In one infamous incident in Delhi, a teenager took his uncle’s Maruti Ciaz for a joyride, leading to a tragic accident where the car collided with an autorickshaw, killing the driver.
Despite the majority of comments being negative, a few individuals found the video harmless and even heartwarming. One user commented, "Sabse bada support system uske peeche baitha hai! So don’t worry. (The biggest support system is sitting behind her.)" Another viewer added, "It’s just about the kid’s happiness. Chill.”
